Christmas Cheer

It's a bit suessical, no? But it makes me so happy to look at. Cut down by Dashing Boy himself. I love the pom pom garland.

My sister sent me a link to this blog-and I absolutely loved her holiday decor- so happy and bright. So, after ogling her lovely tree I decided I would make a garland of my own. My little tree's not quite as grand but I love it.

Here's a close-up of the pom pom garland made with embroidery thread and dollar store pom poms. Yum!

I love decorating the tree because it is full of happy memories. On our honeymoon Dashing Boy and I began a Christmas ornament collecting tradition. It began with this one- too cute for me to resist...

It continued with ornaments celebrating fun family trips (this little tradition has become one of my favorite vacation things to do! We've had some hilarious times finding ornaments in some random places- a few of them are quite creative!)

And special occasions
.

Don't you just the love the smell of pine?

Here is the BEST sugar recipe i have ever had. They actually taste better the DAY AFTER you make them. They become softer. i seriously can NOT resist these cookies and I have a pretty strong will. Thats how great they are.

Mirin Nelson's sugar cookies:
2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup soft butter
3 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
6-7 cups flour

Cream all but the flour. Then add the flour and mix with a wooden spoon. Best to refrigerate overnight or at least a couple of hours before rolling out dough. When rolling out the dough, roll it fairly thin. Preheat oven to 350 and bake for 8-9 min or til slightly brown on the bottom. They make look doughy but don't worry they will be fine.

Frosting:
1 bag of powdered sugar
2 tablespoon vanilla
1/3 cup milk
1/2 cup butter (soft)
-cream... if its too runny, add more powdered sugar til the right consistency.

Make sure cookies are cool all the way before you frost them.

Enjoy!!!
