Meeting Jason, the next Bachelor

I've always imagined how I would respond if I were to ever meet or encounter a famous person. Would I be intrusive-instantly whipping out my camera like the paparazzi? Would I hang back and try not to look obvious? Would I talk to them?

I'd like to imagine I'd be pretty cool. After all, we're all just people right?

Well, this weekend it happened. Dashing Boy and I spent this past weekend celebrating our anniversary in Seattle. Much of our time was spent in the Pike Place Market, which is where we were Sunday morning, purchasing pastries to eat while we watched General Conference.

We were crossing the street, exiting the market when I saw him. "Oh my gosh Dashing Boy, that's Jason and his son Ty from The Bachelorette." Dashing Boy was a little confused who I was talking about (What? you didn't watch The Bachelorette!?)but I was positive it was him. So we stopped on the other side of the street and I stared at them for second and then suddenly they crossed the street again and walked right back to where we were.

Literally standing right next to us, I just couldn't help myself.
"We loved you!" I said.
"Oh, thank you," he said. "What are your names?"
"I'm Jenny and this my husband Dashing Boy and he's a really nice guy like you!" I said.
Jason laughed and shook our hands and said, "This is Ty and he's the greatest guy of all."
I asked Ty if he got to see the flying fish at the Pike Place Fish Market. Jason said they did but Ty wasn't that into it.

Ty nuzzled into his dad and they started walking across the street again. Right about now is when I realized there was a small crew filming him. (hmmm, maybe because he's the next Bachelor!) I felt a bit silly, but hey why not? So when they walked back I asked him if I could take a picture, stressing that I didn't want to get in the way and it's ok if he didn't want to.

"Oh no, it's ok!" he said and the film crew nodded their heads. They looked busy so I just took one of Jason and Ty. Then the director- a cool, relaxed woman said "Don't you want one with you in it?"
"Yeah," I said, "but I don't want to bother you guys."
"No, we need to wait for the light anyway," said Jason. So we took another picture.
"It was so nice to meet you," I said.
"It was very nice to meet you too," he said. "Have a nice rest of the day you guys."

All in all, I felt like I was pretty cool.

And Jason was just as gracious and poised as he seemed on t.v. I know I'll be tuning in this January when he makes his appearance as The Bachelor! Any of you girls want to have a party? Dashing Boy, you're invited too :)
