Block of Bliss.

I just purchased an 11lb block of chocolate and have another 11lb block on the way. I am crazy. But boy this big block makes me so happy:

Yum. I did this awhile back when I worked at a bakery and that chocolate faithfully lasted me a whole years worth of yummy truffles, mousses and other treats.

It is very dreamy.
I woke up this morning and couldn't help myself. There is already a batch of ganache cooling in the fridge!

So there you have it. I have yet to truly put my food storage supply together but I do have 22lbs (well 21.5 now:) of very good chocolate in case I need to barter one day.

I bought that same bar of chocolate a few years ago. It lasted a long while. I'd batter some lentils for that chocolate bar.

Oh Callebaut!! They sell it here at my little Central Market in the bulk foods section, so I go there often to buy another pound of dark bittersweet to make my chocolate crackle cookies. Love it! It's 6.90 a pound here, what does it cost if you buy a big fat brick like yours?

Wow girl! Exciting! All those options in that chocolate. Whenever I have a recipe that calls for melting chocolate in glass over the stove, I feel like a chemist

I am lucky enough to have a friend in the food industry business so I was able to get this block at wholesale cost.

Online the best place I have seen it is at chocosphere.com. It is $66.50 for 11 lbs which puts it at about $6.00 a lb. MUCH better than the $12/lb price at whole foods.(Heidi, I think that cost seems very reasonable compared to what I've seen it at other places!)

But be careful on that chocosphere website. It is very exciting. There is a lot to take in and drool over. The cost of shipping is more reasonable the more you purchase so I know that people place orders together if you have friends that are interested in buying some chocolate too!
