Barack Obama, President-Elect

I wasn't going to get too political here. I have friends and family on both sides who I respect and there are issues on both sides that I support. Ok?

But the result of last night's election is bigger than party lines. It's history.

I spent the evening visiting and dining with friends- crowded around the TV, watching every move of the election. And then boom! 9:00 hit and it was fireworks. Barack Obama, the next president of the United States.

I cried my eyes out. Touched, amazed and proud of our country and what it means to be an American right now. today.

I'm so excited that my children will be born in a nation where they will have an African American president. Think about what that means! It's incredible.

I'm so excited to hear a message of hope instead of fear.

I'm so excited to feel empowered.

The speeches by both candidates last night were first class. President Bush told McCain his statement was "fabulous and very classy," so nicely put. I couldn't agree more. I respect John McCain.

and I respect Barack Obama. And am proud to say I am thrilled he is the next president of the United States!

It is history in the making. After the results, "The Mister" went to Obama's web-site and ordered a poster and t-shirt, so we could preserve a bit of history (and I know what you mean about being careful with politics. I also have friends and family on both sides)

Wahoo!! That's why I had to vote for Barack -- he made me want to be a better person. And I thought if every person wanted to be a better person...then our country could be that much better. Or something. Hopefully!
